Or, is it amplifying where it already needed to grow?

Okay…

I’m going to be blunt in this one.

I can’t stand most AI generated content. I get nauseous. Someone on LinkedIn posted about experiencing a new feeling: AI slop rage.

When I talk to people, their mapped-out-by-AI email sequences aren’t converting well either.

When it comes to healers and creatives with nuanced messaging, AI honestly sucks.

I read an email from a Human Design coach who now offers a program that teaches you to use ChatGPT to write Soul-Aligned messaging.

So many things to say on that…but what stood out was the familiar monotonous cadence.

It sounded like 10 other emails I saw that day.

Here’s one noticeable thing about ChatGPT copy. It skews negative even when it sounds positive.

For example: It’s not XXX, it’s XXXXX.

Or, not because you’re XXXX, because you’re XXXX.

The “it’s not” needs to be something your ideal client actually thinks about.

Copywriters (including myself) have also written this way. ChatGPT took it from humans.

It, however, comes with discernment and relating to your audience. An LLM (language learning model, aka ChatGPT) just doesn’t have that.

When writing a sales page, for example, you can ask:

  1. Does this sentence matter?
  2. Why does it matter?
  3. Does is matter right now?
  4. Who does it matter to?

LLMs follow copy formulas. It’s not as connected to the message (and context of now) as you are and doesn’t answer those questions without more prompting.

I asked ChatGPT “why does the same message land from one person but not another?”

Immediate response:

“It’s not the sentence.
It’s the
source the sentence is coming from.”

There’s that formula: It’s not XXXX, it’s XXXX.”

An AI enthusiast would say “well you have to prompt ChatGPT not to write like that. And keep prompting it until you get what you want?”

Are we meant to put our creative energy and attention into prompting tech?
What happens, in the long run, when you take yourself out of the creation process altogether?

In the name of…productivity? Quantity over quality?

When did we alternative, paradigm pushing small business owners become so corporate?

This isn’t a judgement on using AI (or really LLMs) in whatever way you might.

It’s a reminder that YOU are still the messenger here.

You have a unique way of working with people. If your copy starts to sound robotic and formulaic…that’s not the version of you clients get when they work with you!

How can more of YOU come through?

How do you ensure you’re still EXPANDING your awareness of your own message and body of work?

It comes from a devoted creative practice.
